We are so excited to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build a home (or homes) for hard working low-income families in our community. Below are the details for the event, and links to register to serve through Habitat for Humanity, and registering for the event itself.

Habitat Build Weekend | Aug 31st, Sep 1st, and Sep 2nd

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Scope of the Community Project

Friday August 31st – Dinner and Briefing

On Friday evening the plan is for Gateway Christian Church to HOST a meal for all of the people who volunteer (this would include volunteers from other organizations if they decide to join us), and one or more of the families whose homes we are building. That night will consist of us all eating together. David Irvine speaking a bit about the vision behind what we are doing, and a member of the family (whose home we are helping to build) sharing their story. We will also be given the details of the projects we’ll be helping with, and some quick training.

Saturday September 1st – BUILD DAY

On Saturday, all of the build volunteers will meet at the build site, Harris Village, at 8am and serve until 4pm. Our goal is to have at least 30 volunteers to build between all of the organizations participating. If we have more, that is great! If I’m not mistaken, David believes we could possibly double that number before we would need to split volunteers into multiple shifts.

Volunteers should wear sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle.

We’ll also have several volunteers to take photos/videos so we can produce a video highlighting the event to share on Sunday.

Sunday September 2ndSunday Celebration

On Sunday, during a portion of the regular service, or between our regular Sunday services, we will celebrate what all the volunteers accomplished together. We plan to have a short video produced to show what we did, who helped, etc. And have 1 or more people share their experience. We could even have a family member (of the home we are building) share. We would love to invite all the volunteers of that weekend to come celebrate with us that Sunday morning. We will have more details on what that will look like as the date approaches.
