Gateway to New Life

Knowing God is life’s greatest adventure. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ gives us new life and new love – because God is love! I John 4:7-18

A God Given Mission

“We’re Learning to Love God and Love Others.” Lost people matter to God. To let God love us and to let Him love others through us is the greatest investment to which we can commit our lives. This mission will be our model for our discipleship process and ministry decision process. It’s our way of combining the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Mark 12:30-31; Matthew 28:18 & 20; Hebrews 6:10-11

Trustworthy and Authentic Leadership

Leadership is a function, not an office. It is earned through faithfulness and service. Authentic implies integrity that produces trust. Our leadership team is called to make decisions and lead. Acts 6:4; Romans 12:8

Excellence and Commitment to Quality

Since God gave us His very best, Jesus, so we too should give Him our very best. We are committed to excellence in character, in love and in service. Colossians 3:17, 23; John 13:34-35

Worship: Transforming and Encouraging

Scripture is full of singing! We believe that Spirit-filled worship is an important part of our ministry to God. As we praise, we open our heart, spirit, and mind to His mending of the bruised areas of our lives. Our music is upbeat and contemplative to help you connect to our God of Love. Worship should refresh you. John 4:23-24

Authority of Scripture

We are a Bible-based church. The Bible is inspired by God and teaches us principles on how to live a life that is glorifying to God. For every area of conflict we encounter, the Bible provides an answer. John 8:31-32 & 17:17; Psalm 119:105

You Can Make a Difference Here

We believe every member of the body is a minister. God calls us all to serve in a local church. Discovering our unique spiritual giftedness through involvement in ministry produces joy and growth. The pastors are the equippers; all the members are the ministers. Ephesians 2:10; 3:20
Many churches have a doctrinal statement, however, we believe the best way to understand and learn about any community is to experience it through relationship. Statements of faith can tell you what a community believes but not who they are. We believe that God is One and eternally expressed in the persons of the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit; we believe that sin is forgiven only through the sacrifice of Jesus and that we are led into eternal and abundant life in relationship with God and others through the presence and work of the Holy Spirit among us. We believe our responsibility is to love others as Jesus loves us. Beyond these core truths, we believe we can move forward in our mission growing together through our differences.
Gateway Christian Church is a group of people from all walks of life who are being transformed by Jesus Christ. We are passionate about sharing the love of Christ by caring for each other and positively influencing our communities. To let God love us and to let Him love others through us is the greatest investment to which we can commit our lives.
The mission of Gateway is to lead people to love God, love others and make disciples. This is the foundation for everything we do and has been the basis of our ministry from the beginning. Randy Watson is the founding and senior pastor of Gateway Christian Church.

The Bible : The Bible is God’s Word to all people. The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.

Matthew 1:2223
Isaiah 9:6
John 1:1-5
Hebrews 4:14-15
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Romans 1:3-4
Acts 1:9-11
Colossians 2:9-10
1 Timothy 6:14-15

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life.People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
God the Father:
God, the Father, is an infinite, perfect, personal spirit who is sovereign over all. He mercifully concerns Himself with the details of each person’s life and He hears and answers prayers. He saves all who come to Him from sin and death.

Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit lives in each Christian from salvation. The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

Galatians 5:25
1 Corinthians 2:123:16
Ephesians 1:13
2 Corinthians 13:14
1 Peter 1:2

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it.

We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23
Ephesians 2:8-9
John 14:6
Romans 5:15:810:9-10

Christian Life

Once we receive new life in Christ, we seek to demonstrate our love for God by obeying Him and following Him with all our heart, soul and mind. We constantly strive to grow in Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit and loving people as Jesus loved them.

The Church

The Bible speaks of the church as Christ’s body in which Jesus is the head and all of Christ’s followers are members. To remain healthy, the body’s members must work together, with each part contributing to each other’s growth and maturity. Since the Church represents Jesus Christ to a needy world, God works through the Church to reconcile a lost world to Himself and be His arm of righteousness in an unrighteous world.

Baptism and Communion

Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as a symbolic, public demonstration inner work of God after a person receives new life through faith in Jesus. Communion is a continued remembrance of Jesus’ death and sacrifice on our behalf. Jesus instructed believers to continue these practices until He returns.

The Lord Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to earth and establish His kingdom. Because people are created to live forever, there will be a resurrection of our bodies. People will either exist eternally separated from God in Hell by their sin and unbelief or in union with God in Heaven, through forgiveness and salvation that comes through faith in Christ. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
